Platinum Climbs to Record in Asia on Concern Supply May Fall

Oct. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Platinum rose to a record in Asia after Anglo Platinum Ltd., the world's largest producer, was ordered by the South African government to shut shafts at its largest mine, adding to concerns supply may fall short of demand.

Platinum for immediate delivery rose by as much as 0.3 percent to $1,455.50 an ounce, before trading at $1,454.50 as of 9:24 a.m. in Tokyo.
