What must it be like for Geo's to continuously be subject to 'Venture Capital' financing so as to keep up with exploration and all it entails, as well as maintaining personal employment?

How well inclined and disposed to instability do you think highly educated individuals (think of your own experience) tend to be?

How much/less mental effort and focus can be dedicated to a passion when it is secondary (at best) to pure survival (personal/family)?
