Short version.

I agree, Mr. Nemis operates out of self interest for himself and his shareholders. I THINK he would like his 'partners' to be successful. To what degree I guess is the question. I think everyone would be happy if the new partner hit something good pretty quick, much happier then if they drilled a bunch of blanks and went away disappointed.
