One thing about the investment Junk mail...if you don't get a lot of email and its pretty clear the email you get none "bulk" variety, depending on the server you are on (I'm on Rogers), you can shut those guys off in one click of the mouse. I used to get 300 emails from investment "gurus" like sallylaiddave@done.com and babymakesthree@trio.ca . If you want to get rid of this stuff and you are on Rogers you should set up an online email account with them (it is already there but you may be only using Outlook or other programs to access the mail). The internet mail has an option where you can turn off the junk mail..by this I mean the stuff the spam filter sends to the junkmail bin normally still gets downloaded if you don't go to the internet email first...so if you get a lot of junk do this..

Go to your Rogers internet mail and open it..keep Outlook or whatever program you have open normally for email, closed. (the web address is www.rogers.yahoo.com ). Once you click the link to get to your Rogers home page you will be asked to enter a username and password. (Go to the "Accounts" link to set that stuff up if you don't have a password)

Next. Once you are in your Rogers Home Page click on "Mail" and you will then see all of your mail (this is mail on the server which you may or may not have your email program removing after it is downloaded from the server...that is found in the email settings of your program itself (it usually says something like "keep messages on server after download). Usually I click it so that the mail is removed after it is downloaded to free up the internet server. After a time they do it for you automatically.

So now you want to remove all the garbage that comes your way..but you don't want to keep having to go to the internet mail first to clean up the spam messages... you then do this:

  1. At the main mail welcome page "Welcome Scuby-Doo@rogers.com" you click on "Options" in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Click on "Spam Protection" on the next page
  3. My choice was to click "Immediately delete these messages upon receipt. (Note: If you choose this option, you will not be able to review the messages before they are deleted.)" Be careful if you want to do this..you will not be able to review any of the deleted messages.
  4. This will get rid of 90 to 95 percent of the junk bulk email. I now get about 33 messages every 3 to 4 days and I have requested those from my broker only. To be honest I checked my spam messages all summer and realized they were are to be sent to trash, so my guess is you too will be happy to have them removed. Your download of email will take 90% less time as well as the 90% less time to read the g*#$#!@e mail.

Please note: The example I used was for Rogers because I use Rogers. Sympatico may be different as would be any others. Please only use this as a guide if you are a Rogers internet subscriber. Of course with Hotmail you just dump your email address for a new one if it gets too busy.

Another advantage of this...you don't get all the pharachidical garbage mail...and youve' just won a million..just call us (at high toll rates) to discuss...all spam..all garbage and now where it belongs.

Sorry this is long.. the warning about the spam artists getting a hold of everyones email address kind of sparked this reply. I hope it helps even if you didn't post your email. I'm sure many of us are having problems with the bulk emailers. Good luck today.
