The term "Tanking" as used by the investment industry is likely exactly what has been happening. The term, I believe, is used to create dramatic excitement in what, all on its own, can not be thought of as being terribly tedious industry to be employed in. It is a euphemism. Its intent is to creating excitement in describing a simple market movement. If one was to compare NOT and its movement with the World Markets then the World Markets would be rather stable in appearance.
When I first got involved in this forum I used the term Opponent. However, as there did appear to be considerable concerted influence put on the share price 2-4 weeks ago by what I could conclude were special interests, I to began to adopt the term 'Manipulators'.
At the moment there does appear to be continued action similar to 2-4 weeks ago but the purpose may well have have changed. The special interests of a few weeks ago, I believe have mostly picked up their desired positions in NOT as well as other area play stocks. So, what is the purpose of the current price action. Individuals (some investment firms, may I generalize them to be without knowing their specific names), through Brokerage Houses, are now influencing the share price with the intent of picking up shares at the lowest price possible.
Weather that be the exact case or not, I can say that I have been able to benefit to a small amount from the lowered share price, assuming that it once again rises in price.
To give it my own euphemistic feel I think of it as denying these other individuals shares they otherwise may have picked up.
