NI 43-101 Update (September 2012): 11.1 Mt @ 1.68% Ni, 0.87% Cu, 0.89 gpt Pt and 3.09 gpt Pd and 0.18 gpt Au (Proven & Probable Reserves) / 8.9 Mt @ 1.10% Ni, 1.14% Cu, 1.16 gpt Pt and 3.49 gpt Pd and 0.30 gpt Au (Inferred Resource)
Thanks for your input Latch. You do have more experience then I here.
Here is my understanding:
We do have a number of anomalies (magmetic signatures/deviations from the normal) in the area. But anomolies are quite common.
I found another example where a company called Stonehenge Metals was going to begin a high resolution airborne geophysical survey because they found an area (not here) that contained similar rocks and magnetic signatures as an adjacent Nickel Mine. The key word here for me is 'similar'. Stonehenge metals is like FNC and PRB and others in this case.
At this point, we as investors only know that there exists these anomalies nearby to NOT. but are they similar to what NOT has? Perhaps only NOT knows since they have all the data.
Magnetic signatures are great at finding anomalies but it is only those that match with another nickel deposit that the searchers get excited about. So the question is.. do they match?
If they do then let the drills start turning and we will all get excited!
Until then, we are still searching for a look alike to NOT.
As NORONT says in their press release, they continue to search as well...
'The positioning of the first 5 drill holes completed to date, was based upon the ground magnetic and horizontal loop electromagnetic goephysical sureveying completed during 2004 and early 2006, as required for assessment filing purposes by the previous owner of the subejct property... Geophysical survey will continue on existing and new grid lines to facilitate a more detailed interpretation of the sulphide target.'
An anomaly it appears is not a guarantee, or even a reliable indication. And we certainly don't have any indication at this point that the 'mother load' is on any other property then Noronts. We will know this only when the drills stop turning. It seems logical to me that it is more likely that NOT has the mother load since all we know at this point is that NORONT has the goods. As for the area plays...
I will be happy to be convinced otherwise and buy some more of the area plays at that time (when I have the $!).
We shall see...
