Message: Re: Why own NOT, and NOT cash or ETF's, in the US?

I have a higher % of NOT in my accounts than any other stock. That said, I will take a scenerio you did not mention.

I use gold ETF's in my retirement accounts because it is all taxed as ordinary income when I take it out. I can go in and out as I please and not worry short term, long term, etc. With NOT I took out my core position at $3.37 and will pay ordinary income taxes in 2006 on this income. When I sell it in the future, gains will be at 15% under current law. When the stock hits $20 I plan to donate 5000 shares to help build a clinic in the Dominican Republic. I will get a charitable deduction for $100,000 that I paid taxes on $18,000.
