I guess the big question is...has this sell off gone to far to retract because of the interest rate decrease. I know 3/4 % is on heck of a drop and signifies that the central bank is serious about slowing the recession tide. This is good.
The question becomes will we now have to wait the storm to see what all of the stopgaps provide as far a instilling confidence back into the investment community. My guess is we'll be seeing a day or two more of bloodletting. The good part is the length of time and degree of freefall may well start to let up. I've heard that 10,000 - 10,500 is one estimate of the TSX once this is over. I don't agree totally with that number, especially with Canada's economic strength. The issues right now are not dealing with the commodities but with sentiment. Once sentiment is righted everything else should find its own level again. Ours is NOT 2.51 as the pre-market is saying on my screen right now. Buy while you can.
