It should be obvious to anyone that those that want to increase their advantage in the markets will do so almost anyway they can.  The easiest is to cast dispersions on anything that is up and coming, to discredit.  It is no different than politics, increasing your votes by decreasing anothers.  Slam campaigns, disinformation or error by omission are highly successful ways of clouding the vision and judgement of honest investors.
