Noront Resources Ltd.: Windfall Lake Gold Project Update

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 5, 2008) - Noront Resources Ltd. "Noront" (TSX VENTURE:NOT) is pleased to announce further significant diamond drill intersections from four exploration holes completed on the Company's Windfall Lake Property which lies in Urban Township in the Abitibi Region of Quebec.

Holes NOT-07-157, 159 and 160 were designed to test the limits of mineralization encountered by earlier drilling.

Additional assay data from NOT-07-157 (13+10 mW, 2+34 mN, azimuth 340 degrees, dip -70 degrees) indicates that the previously reported interval of 16.12 gpt (0.47 opt) Au over 2 metres (6.6 feet) between 300 and 302 metres is part of a 16.95 metres (55.6 ft) wide zone extending from 299 metres to 315.95 metres as follows:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Interval Gold

From (m) To (m) (m) (ft) (g/t) (oz/T)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
299.00 315.95 16.95 55.6 4.52 0.13

NOT-07-159 (13+22 mW, 1+78 mN, azimuth 330 degrees, dip -70 degrees) drilled reports an intersection within 25 metres of surface.

NOT-07-160 (13+04 mW, 1+48 mN, azimuth 325 degrees, dip -68 degrees) contains two intersections including the following:

NOT-07-169 (8+00 mW, 6+41 mN, azimuth 208 degrees, dip -68.5 degrees) a deep hole designed to test to about 750 metres below NOT-06-100 returned four significant intersections as follows:

The Company anticipates that the ramp portal will be completed during the second half of March. The contractor experienced delays due to unusually cold weather and heavy snow which have prevented the addition of a second shift. Crown pillar stability and hydrogeology studies have been completed as required by provincial health and safety legislation.

Once underground, Noront expects to complete Phase 1 of the underground programme during the third quarter of 2008. This phase will enter the NOT-06-100 area about 100 metres below surface and two other mineralized zones at shallower depths.

Both the portal and two of the mineralized zones to be tested by the underground programme lie on the portion of the property optioned from Murgor Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MUG) and Freewest Resources Canada Inc. (TSX VENTURE:FWR) (Murgor/Freewest) (see Noront press release of Feb 5, 2007).

Samples are taken from (NQ) diamond drill core which is sawed in half, packaged and delivered to Bourlamaque Assay Laboratory for analysis. The remaining half core is stored in a secure location for future reference and further testing. All samples are assayed using a 30-gram fire assay charge with an atomic absorption finish (for which the upper detection limit is 10 g/t). Samples reporting greater than 2 g/t are re-assayed in duplicate using aliquots of the original pulp and of an additional split of the coarse rejects. The re-assay method also comprises a 30 g charge but employs a gravimetric finish.

Noront designates samples in batches of 20. Each batch includes a certified standard, blanks (currently silica gel) and duplicates that are inserted at random at a rate of about one of each per batch. Duplicate samples are prepared by quartering a sample interval and submitting the quarters under separate tag numbers. The assay laboratory also reports its internal standards, and blanks and duplicates. The Bourlamaque Assay Lab holds a certificate of laboratory proficiency for the analysis of gold issued under the Proficiency Testing Program for Mineral Analysis Laboratories which is administered by CANMET.

Gold assays are reported to the company in parts per million (ppm) and reported publicly by the company in grams per tonne (1 ppm equals 1 gram per tonne). Conversions to ounces per ton (oz/ton) on the tables above employ a factor of 34.2857 grams per tonne equaling 1 troy ounce per short ton. Lengths are reported in meters and are converted to feet by dividing by 0.3048 m/ft (1 foot equals 0.3048 m).

One of the qualified persons responsible for overseeing and reviewing the technical data on the Windfall Lake project is Patrick Chance P.Eng. The technical information prepared for disclosure in this Noront news release has been approved by Mr. Chance.

The diamond drill program was completed in an orderly fashion as determined by the Company's geological team including Tracy Armstrong, P.Geo., (a qualified geologist in the Province of Quebec) of P & E Mining Consultants Inc. Noront is a tier 2 junior resource company on the TSX Venture Exchange, trading symbol NOT, with 125,377,082 shares issued to date.
