MEGATEM & FUGRO DASH 7

Last week there was a discussion of Big Players using sophisticated AeroResearch Techniques (johndefur / Googleeye) , especially the very expensive plane Dash 7 from Fugro equipped with the even more sophisticated MEGATEM system :

Xstrata's Geophysical toolbox includes MegaTEM and VTEM, both airborne EM systems, as well as Titan24 for deep penetration from the surface and advanced borehole survey systems. An integral part of the program was the use of 3-D earth modelling technology, particularly 3-D GIS systems, to integrate and interpret the vast amounts of multidisciplinary historical data with new data.

"MEGATEM, introduced in 1998 and based upon proven GEOTEM technology, is mounted upon a larger more powerful aircraft, a Dash 7, to allow safe and effective AEM surveying of projects located at high altitudes, beyond the capability of the Casa. Recent surveys have demonstrated the superior capability of MEGATEM to locate deep targets in all geological environments."

I know for a fact that a Dash 7 is at this very moment surveying in the Mcfaulds area. Hmmmm! I'm not saying its Xstrata but wouldn't it be nice?

In that respect, todays NR of Melkior (fairly new in ROF and certainly NOT a Big Player) is very interesting:

Melkior Flies 1700 Km Megatem East of McFauld's

Tuesday April 22, 8:00 am ET

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 22, 2008) - Melkior Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MKR - News) has completed an airborne time-domain electromagnetic and magnetometer survey over its claims located east of McFauld's Lake in the James Bay region of Ontario. A total of 1700 line kilometres were surveyed using the Fugro MEGATEM system. Melkior selected Fugro Airborne Surveys Corp. and MEGATEM due to Fugro's extensive worldwide experience surveying for nickel and base metals with many years of experience at target selection. MEGATEM is specifically suited for locating large massive sulphide bodies at depths of several hundred metres. Melkior anticipates that potentially economic targets in this area must be of considerable size hence MEGATEM is the ideal airborne system.
