It won't be long now. Maybe another couple of weeks. Pickle Lake (the lake, not the town, is still about 95% ice covered and Mcfaulds is 200 miles north. The smaller, shallower lakes will thaw first so I expect Mcfaulds, Richards etc will be fairly shortly if we get some warm weather. Trouble is, we haven't had the warm weather up there yet. Just so you know how much ice we are talking about here, Mcfaulds lake froze to the bottom this year. Thats at least 5 or 6 feet of ice - it doesn't melt overnight. If you want to keep track of the weather up there, you can go to the environment canada website and find the forecast and conditions for Big Trout Lake. Its the closest weather reporting station.
