Funny thing is I sort of agree with you and sort of don't. Yes holding Noront for the long term has every indication of being a wise move because the shear size of the area play, number of players and huge dollars being spent makes it extremely likely more rich deposits will be identified. That will take Noront, as the major player, up to new highs.
However the clear signs where there that $7.50 was not sustainable, AT THAT TIME, and some forum member expressed that feeling. Selling a portion of holdings was smart not dumb. Yes maybe it would have gone a bit higher but stay there? Those that sold and bought back in are certainly in a better position today.
Just because one believe in Noront doesn't mean they can't read the market and do some rearranging from time to time. Don't forget there are tax considerations because those that are in at very low cost have one huge capital gains to face at some point so spreading the gain over two or three tax seasons can make sense.
Active Forum members do have an advantage over the market because they closely follow what's going on, have better idea of value and know when progress is likely to be reported (yeah we all can guess wrong). This knowledge is double edged because it drives us totally nuts when we see the Market dumping when nothing has changed affecting value.
If Noront pulls everything together for a major in 2008 everybody is going to hate the tax man and if not there will be many opportunities to take some money off the table to crystallize capital gains AT NEW HIGHS, all in my humble opiniion.
