It's not unlikely the geologists did down hole gravity work as well as other testing prior to making the call to go back and drill on the anomality close to FNC.

While they might be continuing deeper with the earlier holes it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they started fresh using knowledge gained. Just changing the angle drilled can make an awful difference in results obtained.
