There is really no capacity worldwide to pick up all the underlying risk that AIG writes. It is smaller than F & F, but far more reaching and complicated. The implications to the corporate world are more than staggering, they are incomprehensible. Massive corporate credit defaults, personal bankruptcies, and an end to hundreds of billions in corporate credit availments as we know them. Underlying AIG's book of business are massive interrelationships with other insurers that will throw the insurance world into turmoil. So, there will be a solution for AIG as a going concern. McCain will lose all credibility in the business world if he believes that AIG can simply be wound up.
