"call me when you get to 30 - 40 Mt."
This is allegedly the quote from some big chromite interests to which I say ....yeah right. What is the subtext beneath this phrase? What they want others to believe is that " we might be interested but don't bother us unless it's something really big and special." If this deposit is what it promises to be, it will most certainly be a threat, and those interested in chrome will be holding their breath with ears firmly planted on NOT's door. No one in this business is unaware or ignoring NOT. The silence that we investors are perceiving is the tension before the event. It's a quiet period where the players are careful not to reveal too much eagerness in showing their hand. NOT has fallen on what could be one of the biggest finds in a considerably long time. The problem is that it also coincides with the second most tragic time in modern economic history. This actually is working in favour of the majors. They have time on their hands and can afford to wait and see what NOT turns up at these present sp's. There is the belief that the markets are in for further meltdown regardless of what the Fed does. If the majors believe this, and I'm sure some anticipate it, they may feel they can afford to watch NOT flap in the wind as NOT draws closer to needing money. If all does not go smoothly for NOT on the financial end then time will play into the Major's hands. If all goes well for NOT the Majors can jump in anytime they like. Either way they have options and presently, waiting may be the most financially expedient for them. Having written the above, we also have heard that NOT has been in negotiations, so a joint venture with a major could also pop out of the woodwork though I think I would be surprised to find any majors being that beneficent and interested in giving anyone more than a minimal deal, which NOT would not voluntarily accept. Are there majors paranoid of their competition to jump in early and be kind to NOT and it's shareholders. I guess we'll see.
The market is like TV to the populace, when they see something being endorse by a star, they'll buy it, and soon everyone will be "drinking overpriced water out of little bottles". Likewise with chrome, when it's in the papers everyday and the gurus are expounding on it, the masses will flood in. Right now, people still envision slowdowns and less need for commodities regardless of whether some think we are in a commodities bull. So many complaints about the lack of movement in NOT today after the good news. The market is still marginal and so many stocks are still just moving sideways. I wonder if all of those other investors are waxing paranoid over their stocks. We've had a decent couple of days and a little knock back today. Nothing goes straight up eh?
