I talked to a financial advisor in BMO today and wanted to use my RRSP to trade stocks. It's the last resource I can use even though my wife is strongly opposed to do so.
The guy asked me about Noront (if you read my post, he suggested I sell it in June and buy GICs, and I laughed. It turned out he's quite right. I don't know if he feels what I feel right now. But he must have been laughing at me all the time.) He then went on talking about Canadian financial markets and warned me that "the worst hasn't started yet. Canada will have its own financial crisis pretty soon." How soon? He didn't say. Through media I've always been told that Canada financial system is not like US and is still very healthy. Why suddenly everything changed? What if what he said is true (I really hope he's wrong this time)? TSX already down huge in the past several weeks. Is it just a hair cut? It actually wants to get bald? How long does it last? Half a year, a year, two years? Is it possible for mining/exploration companies (like NOT) who really rely on financing to survive in this storm? I don't know but I'd really like to find out in the AGM.
Anyways, despite his warning I still insist using my RRSP to buy some good mining stocks in the very near future 'coz I believe if we haven't seen the bottom just yet, it should be very very close. NOT definitely is one of the candidates. But I may as well consider SVM, JIN, SBB, CPQ etc. just to show respect to my wife.
I believe this Thanksgiving would be a very difficult day for most investors. I wish you a good holiday and big thanks to our wives, partners, and loved ones. Without their supports, we won't see our bright tomorrow.
Take care all.
