It has been just over 18 hours since I announced a call to arms and I must say that the activity and reaction has been more than I could have expected.
We have acheived many of our objectives in such little time:
1) Awareness of the need to vote
2) Actual voting and active voting
3) Communication of the threat that Rosseau poses
4) National media attention
5) Containment of paid bashers on this site
6) Waking up sleeping Dick you has posted very well today
A couple of surprises today which I did not expect but am thankful for:
1) Agoracom actively participating from the get go. Not only with an excellent blog but also voting their shares today in support of Noront management.
2) Many shareholders coming out of the woodwork and signing up for an Agoracom ID, even if just to say "Count me in". I know that there is a silent audience out there that follow the posts of the regulars on there but it is great to see so many new faces in support of this call.
3) Noront issuing a news release with instructions as to how to act to fully support the company.
4) An active telephone campaign by Noront's proxy management company who will be contacting over 4000 shareholders notifying them of the necessity of participating through proxy in this year's AGM.
The next 18 days are important in that we are fighting to keep control of Noront in the hands of those who created this company and have brought us this far. There are times in business where a change of directors is a refreshing change, but this is not the time nor is it deserved. Looking at the proposed list of directors and gaining an understanding of the reputations of these people tells me that this is only an opportunistic takeover bid. Gutless in that it does not even fall within a real bid for the company.
A lot of action took place today and I believe this awesome show of unity and likemindedness has created the inertia that we needed to be successful. I am sure that Richard is aware of the support he received from hundreds of shareholders on this board today and I hope this provides him some wind beneath what must be deflated wings. There is nothing better than knowing your crew is 100% committed and on your side when the pirates arrive to loot the ship.
The key over the next couple of weeks is to keep quality information coming and reminding those who may only check the board from time to time as to what is at stake. Educating new readers as to why the alternative proxy is such a risk for shareholders, and what steps they need to take to add their support to this mission.
That said, I recommend that those who have posted some excellent posts today repost them at least twice a day in the days to come. If you posted and received a large number of votes on your post, those messages will prove valuable to new viewers who will be drawn to this web site after the personal calls to them.
We have started nothing short of a revolution among shareholders in working to combat this external threat to the company we know and love. We all have a lot riding on this company and the thought of somebody else forcing there way into a position of control is a motivating force which should drive us until the AGM.
At this point we are doing exactly what we can to assist Noront. That is doing all we can to get 4000 shareholders voting in favor of management. Noront also has some excellent and experienced people who are likely working overtime in creating a number of strategies to get us through this.
The army does does not always need to know what the general is planning when out in the battlefield. Good generals have strategies that are released at the right time and under the right conditions. Keep faith in your management team that they will do everything they can to ensure that our investment is protected. While we need to stay diligent in our role, we are just one factor in this defense. Look for some surprises in the upcoming weeks :)
I am proud of all shareholders, old and new who carried the Noront flag today. My hope is that one day we will look back at these days and weeks as the defining moment in our investment histories.
M1.
