On your quote above, I heard an encouraging explanation for the recent strength of the dollar, encouraging for Canada and other competing currencies.

The cause of the rapid strength of the dollar is simply american investors and funds selling their overseas stocks and thus bringing the dollar home and into treasuries.

I would love a strong dollar, but this recent strength is underserved - not based on the sound principals of fiscal health and a strong economic base, and so dangerrous to be complacent about, and doomed to suffer a reversal.
