So we are back at Eagle 1, after all this time. I have been trying to figure out where we are now that we are back at square 1. To do this I have to bring all the facts down to my level in order that I can try to understand each of them.
When Eagle 1 was first discovered it was described as a displaced chunk of rock that had moved from it's original position by some force. That is relatively easy to understand. I picture a great rift in the earth that carries molten (lava?), and as it rises (or moves laterally), it carries chunks of existing ground with it.
My concept of Eagle 1 has always been one chunk of rock amid a (conduit) of some other material (peridotite). If that is reasonable it follows that there exists a much larger chunk of rock from which Eagle 1 came from. To take this one step further it follows that the greatest gain could come from finding the source of Eagle1, as a chunk of 7% nickel probably came from a much bigger chunk of the same material. Could it be possible that we have been wasting a whole year and that the source of Eagle 1 is merely 70 m below it.
I realize that this is a over simplification of things, but wouldn't it be nice. Certainly we deserve it.
