Buy, sell, hold, trade, invest, withdraw, you can do them all with no tax consequence ( once initial transfer gains taxes are paid). I have transferred stock to my RRSP on many occastions and this is the same type of process. If your cost is under the current price I would transfer stock and if it is over that I would find the $5K more in cash and do a new buy in the account. I'm thinking of half NOT and half FWR to start.
