Let's be sure of one thing here. Because we have two members of the board with ties to Barrick there are some here who carry that fact right down the road to a potential cheap sellout to Barrick...at least that's my interpretation. Then there are others who have voiced the opinion that the BOD may be tempted to dumping NOT to anyone for a quick buck.
Okay, the preceding scenarios may be possible but there is one positive (for all shareholders) fly in the ointment that needs to be considered: All of the directors have huge egos, some to a greater or lesser extent than others and that is part of their personality that has helped them become as successful as they are. Who have we all read about in the exploration business with an ego larger then our solar system? Right! Robert Friedland, the self-made billionaire (#645 on the Forbes list of richest men in America) worth about $1.2 billion in 2006. Do you think that there just might be a couple of guys on the NOT BOD who secretly harbour visions of grandeur and dreams of being the next Robert Friedland?
The ROF has been compared by some (Richard Nemis included) to Voisey's Bay...in fact there are those on this forum who feel that the ROF will actually play out as the biggest mining event to hit Canada in many, many years...maybe ever! I'm sure our BOD has read all about Voisey's Bay. Do you really think that these guys have put a limit on their greed? For what it's worth, I don't. Providing the drills produce the results we ALL hope for, the BOD is not going to give away the brass ring for chump-change.
Maybe all this is wishful thinking...there seems to be an awful lot of that going on around here. Just another point to ponder as we flail around waiting for news that is long overdue. Thanks to John D, Coswill and a host of others for helping to keep our feet planted on the ground with FACTS and logical analysis.
