People are putting forward Barrick as possibly being interested in NOT and area. Forgive me but I don't think there is any chance of that. Barrick is a gold company. They have 27 mines and 26 of them produce gold and one produces copper. Some of the gold mines produce associated copper, silver and zinc. Their corporate strategy and vision is and I quote: "To be the best gold company by finding, acquiring, developing and producing quality reserves." When Mr Blasutti was hired by Barrick, the press release said: "Mr. Blasutti is building new low cost long life mines in highly prospective gold mining districts around the globe." I don't think Barrick will stray from it's historical strengths and strategic direction in gold mining and production to persue a niche market in Chrome. Particularly at a time when production of chrome is at less than half of capacity.
Don't get me wrong, there are companies like Cliffs and steel producers who are eyeing us and I think it is to Noronts distinct advantage to have executives from a world leading mining company like Barrick on it's team, but in my humble opinion, Barrick is not looking to buy us.
