It is a real balancing act for any BOD to pilot NOT through these economic times. On the one hand we are in very unstable times with a deep recession and capitol of any amount is desparately hard to get. I notice Caterpillar is having a rough time and before Christmas, the were complaining that they were the worlds largest equipment manufacturer and couldn't get the banks to talk to them. We must be in very desparate times when our main hope globally is for government to provide economic stimulus. Remember the joke line: "Hi we are from the government and we are here to help."
On the other hand, we have this great resource that gets bigger every day, certainly much bigger than when we were $7.00. But when no one wants/needs what you are selling, its tough to make a sale. Now we are very vulnerable because our share price is low and there may be someone out there that has cash to buy us at present values with a small premium.
Assuming that our BOD is in this for the shareholders and for the money (I know we are dubious about that) maybe they only want to minimize announcements and not to project any "blue sky" valuations while the need for us nor the want exists. If we can quietly drill away, delineate and expand our orebodies, lock up the rumour mill, and release and pump our holdings when the prices and demand improves than maybe that is a tactic that has merit.
