Many of the Agoracomees discussed the chromite issue at the conference.
Now, I know "squat" about the production of stainless steel. However, given that Noront/FWR/SPQ have a world class chromite deposit; given that there is abundant nickel resources in Canada, much of it being smelted in Ontario; and given that metallurgical coal is also abundant in North America, why shouldn't the governments at all levels in Canada and the USA not jumped at the opportunity to build a new north american industry.
Brazil is the only country in the Americas with a chromite mine. And although Brazil sounds like a fine country, it ain't no Canada (even with -20 degree temperatures in northern Ontario).
I was thinking we (Agoracomees) need to start a "positive active" (versus previous "reactive") campaign to lobby our governments to think $$$$$ with regards to building a new industry. Heck, if the NOT board got 78,000 unique hits from investors and would-be investors in 2008, it seems to me that a few 10s of thousands of emails to the appropriate politicians might raise one or two eye brows.
