I'm not sure whether the Cliffs deal is that significant in and of itself to me at the moment, in terms of their buying NOT, FWR, SPQ or others. The latter is certainly possible, or it may be that their interest will simply spur some activity/competition from others, which is great. The Cliffs position could partially be the simple moving of a "pawn" to see what the other "chess players" do in response. At the price they are in at so far, it's a cheap move to acquire information, barely even noticeable on their bottom line. What would it mean to them if there was no response near term? Would FWR, NOT et al be willing to sell at comparatively low prices or is Cliffs interested in raising the scale to what we would like to see? Perhaps we'll see if the shadows on the sides will answer these questions before long..... or will this be yet another waiting game of many months..... into the bowels of the worst of the recession..... or what ever label you might want to give it?
