Makes perfect sense to me. No news, not even a whisper from management, no leaks. It is like the dead zone and investors do take note.

I'm sure there are many who are willing and able to jump in if necessary.

The silent treatment is a well documented ploy for many different resons. From this sort of thing to the silent treatment one might get from his/her spouse or a child!!!
