PDAC 2009 thoughts

I’m not going to wax technically poetic about PDAC 2009 because many of our fine posters have already given some terrific information. But here are some general thoughts.

Agoracom

It was great to see so many Agoracom folks. Some I had met previously, others I met for the first time. And all were instantly friends. I apologize for not having an opportunity to share a drink along the way. Prior family obligations had to come first. But next year I’ll work with George T. to set something up that will allow us to spend some focused time on good discussion (even more than we had this year) and social stuff.

My final point here is that when you meet someone in person at PDAC or a Cambridge convention to talk about the ROF, you’re less likely to act like a juvenile on Agoracom.

Three Main ROF Players with Booths

Noront, Freewest, Spider Resources-KWG, and (soon) UC Resources have a “good thing goin’ on”. You just have to look at the maps, the cores, and talk with the geologists to get a pretty excited feeling. Novak, Hoy, and Voisin are great. Mungal blew me away.

The Noront Booth

Noront had a booth this year! Remember last year? Under RN they had to share a booth with. . . remember. . . Spider Resources. Alas, Noront didn’t have a core in the Core Shack until Tuesday. Freewest was already there. Just another indication that NOT needs a new CEO really fast. I mean really fast!

Thinking about Noront

I’m looking past the present upper hierarchy of Noront. In my opinion, I’m not going to waste any more time thinking about Hamilton, Parisotto, or Joanne Jobin. Jim Mungal is whom everyone should be focusing on. He’s the guy costing out the exploration. He knows where to put the drill bit. This guy is good. If NOT can finally get a really good CEO, this company will have a chance to make some people really wealthy.

Mac Watson & Don Hoy

Mac Watson and Don Hoy were just fun to talk to. They want to succeed. They want us all to win. When I walked up to the booth, Mac saw me, and greeted me with “Hi Glenn”. Hey, I’m a nobody. But want to feel like you’re appreciated? Chat with Mac.

Neil Novak and SPQ

Neil Novak is also really interesting to talk to. As I posted previously, Spider Resources has the first draft of their Big Daddy 43-101. It should be completely signed off by KWG and FWR in around a month; and at that time, Neil should have a good drilling plan for Big Daddy. But why Neil is with NOT still confounds me. For some reason or other, NOT just doesn’t sound like it’s working as a team. But heck. It’s a paycheck.

Monday Morning Presentation in 801B

One interesting little tidbit of information was that Warren Irwin (Rosseau Asset Management) was at the ROF presentation. I didn’t see him because he was behind me and had left before I saw him. But I understand (Maureen mentioned this) that he was exchanging “niceties” with Parisotto.

IBK Capital (Michael White as MC) hosted the ROF Monday morning presentations. Noront, Freewest, Goldeye, Temex, and Northern Shield Resources presented. I listened to Joe Hamilton*, Don Hoy, Blaine (?) of Goldeye, and Ian Bliss of NRN. NRN is an interesting PGE play and would be worth investigating. * I took some pictures of Joe during the presentation but for some reason or other, I kept getting fuzzy pictures. Honest! Must be alien EM machines in the building J

Finally

I have a McFaulds Lake map if anyone needs it for a presentation to a politician. I understand that our little email campaign is actually starting to make some inroads with our politicians. Did I hear correctly that someone at Noront was talking to, or going to talk to a politician?

Jim (provinsys) is setting up my PDAC 2009 pictures on his server. I'll inform everyone when the link is ready.
