Been really under the weather for a few days and finally have a few minutes to post about the PDAC experience. (My husband posts the House Positions for me!) As so many great people have already given their news and impressions about the event, there isn’t really a lot to add. I was knocked out by the fantastic group that gathered there each day and putting faces to the names we have learned to love!
Well, what a PDAC it was! Made some unbelievable new friends – Donypee and I will now rule the world…… no one works harder than Snug; Sudbury Novice left no stone unturned, or core for that matter; Hoov gave all the geologists a run for their money although I think he missed the gorgeous young one (female!) that Don and I found in the Probe booth with Karen Willoughby; Glorieux should be our Prime Minister – on the other hand maybe QQ Girl should! And Polylabel and Keegann are just as interesting as their posts.
It was an absolute treat to be even in the general vicinity of the Freewest booth. Big smiles, ready to answer any and all questions, really positive about Agoracom and the posters. At the end, Mac would roll his eyes when he saw us coming! Seriously though, the general consensus at all the booths was that Freewest has the goods. If the recent activity on their volume and sp has anything to do with nickel then that would be the icing on the cake.
The Noront booth was different. I had a chance to talk to both CEOs on different days. Paul Parisotto was very reserved and while Joe Hamilton was quite forthcoming and willing to talk, they are much more distant to the role of the shareholder in the ongoing activities. As previous posters have said, it appears the new CEO is imminent, unless his/her current board makes a better offer. Also, I didn’t get the impression that a listing on the TSX was imminent. Paul and Joe each work 2 days a week at Noront with one overlapping day. And of course we are incredibly lucky to have John Harvey and Neil Novak also taking care of our affairs. As Richard Nemis has said all along, and as many others have reiterated in their posts, we must remember what’s in the ground – it isn’t going anywhere. I wish the very best to all at Noront and trust that they will deliver.
We also fortunately got to speak to many principals of other ROF companies. It was my great good fortune to be with Donypee and Sudbury Novice on a lot of these occasions.
There was lots of talk about amalgamation everywhere and I think that will be one of the biggest and most interesting activities in the next while. The difficulties for miners looking to buy our exploration companies are obvious. Cliffs is being spoken about as is CVRD and hints of lots of others. Staking is still going on. The buzz on the ROF is strong. There is still much to be found.
As I suffered from information overload on a number of occasions, the one thing that was really clear in my mind was the absolutely phenomenal community we have developed on this forum. Yes, sometimes we go off the wall and often off topic but who cares. Agoracom has given us a venue to do due diligence like it has never been seen or done before on internet message boards. We have good days and bad days, good posters and great posters (and let’s not forget “fguide” who thanks me everyday for posting the House Positions!). Bottom line is there is nothing like this forum out there. George and everyone at Agoracom are amazing. Thanks.
One of the nicest events at PDAC was as Donypee and I were walking past the Noront booth at the end of the day, Don said, “Look who’s here!” And there was Richard Nemis. What a class act. It was great to see him and it will be so interesting to see how his new venture unfolds. Wish you all the best, Richard and have no doubts as to your future success.
When all is said and done about the ROF and whatever combination of companies you may own, there is a world class chromite find up there and who knows what else. Keep the faith and keep your shares. We will be rewarded.
Thanks again to everyone, especially Donypee. I will never forget PDAC 2009. It was a wonderful and rewarding experience.
