I'm not sure exactly how the present list was determined, but as Donny says , the last thing needed right now is a serious contest between members for leader status.

Lar has expressed his willingness to accept the position. That is obviously a slam dunk. How many others would also be interested? If there are 4, or even 6 interested persons let's just leave it at that. If there are a bunch more then we can make it a contest and have some fun with it.
