Suggestion for Access Road

Why doesn't someone throw 'Toll Road' onto the table for discussion with Government?

The fact of the matter is that putting in an all weather road the last 100K or so into the ROF is going to be fairly expensive and under the current rules whoever pays for this and maintains it is obligated to let 'the public' use the road at no charge. The road would be on Crown Land and that's just the way it works.

However there is no reason why the Ontario Government could not pay for the road and then levy a heavy charge for the use of this road. Likely the Federal Government could pickup part of the costs and operating expense as providing access to Indian Communities.

Now you'd think Noront and others would be more than willing to sign on the dotted line to pay by the use rather than incurr the total capital cost. Suddenly everyone can get men and equipment in for exploration AND ship out valuable ore or concentrate.

Advantages to Government as it ensures a level playing field up in the ROF and opens up a huge area for exploration. There would be some end point for the access road so individual companies still have to haul in from there but still makes things a lot cheaper. Probably makes it an easier 'sell' to taxpayers too.
