No, it certainly wouldn't be, but it is a move in the right direction. For a bidding war to occur, someone needs to be first to the table, but just like at an auction, the first bidders who want in cheap aren't generally the ones who end up with the winning, costlier bid.

One thing I've learned is there are folks out there who love the fantasy of a really good bargain; they throw in stink bids for real estate, they try to haggle with car dealerships, etc and when they don't get the discount they want they walk away and pretend they didn't want it anyways. But before their offer is denied, they are all a-tingle with the prospect that they might get something under market value.

Only difference here is, even if your stink bid is denied, so long as the shares are owned, you run a very good chance of easily doubling your money, so no-one walks away empty-handed.

Last week, more than ever, I remain convinced, was the last ditch effort to demoralize retail and shake loose shares.
