I have no problem with an underground miner making over $100,000. per year. They do a hard and dangerous job. Many have paid for their mining careers with their lives. I could go with $80,000. for a surface worker. I also don't have a problem with an employee sharing in the company's success when commodity prices go to the moon. My opinion is that the managerial paper pusher types especially in the civil service get paid too much. There was a time when the people who did the work made more money and those who had cushy jobs with lots of job security made a little less. Nowadays everyrthing has been turned on its head. Those with cushy jobs and lots of job security make much more money than those doing the work who have less job security. Anyway we're starting to get way off topic. Expect a six month or longer strike at Vale-INCO and expect nickel prices to spike during that time.
