The Mponeng gold mine in South Africa was 3777m deep this past February, with a mine plan to go to 4100m deep and feasability studies being conducted for 4500m (14850 ft). Cost per ounce of gold is $220/oz .

If the material justifies the cost Noront will chase the Eagle 1 deposit to depth.

Waiting to see what is in those 1000m deep holes.
