Some key points worth repeating:

As stated, the cost (or tax credit) of Flow Through Shares is a 100% deduction from all regular income. For instance, it can be a great tool to offset a large RSP cash out. I am aware of a strategy to actually using RSP money to purchase FTS's as a means of getting the money out without the tax liability. Obviously, risk is involved.

Even with an ACB of zero, the capital gain has to be substantial to offset the tax savings, and of course there could be some substantial capital losses available (I am certain I am not alone).
