I haven't had a chance to keep up with all the posts lately, but did read a few this morning including Milsy's fine post.
My view of stock message boards is that they are entertainment first (an investing past time of high order), and a source for knowledge, second (not the only two uses, of course). Most are not nearly as active as this one, though, so there is much for all. Of course, there are several bashers, pumpers, reporters, commentators, and those that try their very best to offer analysis. Many times these and other catergories overlap.
Experienced readers of this forum ought to know who's who for the most part.
But here's my point - for all the excellent analytical work some have done, and all the well-meant cheerleading by others (as opposed to the insidious pumping), what do we have here - a stock that is trading at a buck and a half and who's future is not at all assured. Of course we have a shot at hitting it big, but if you read only the analysis and the cheerleading, you might conclude that the SP would be $30.
Objectivity is lost on blogs, and in most cases, it's lost even by the analytical types. And the well-meaning cheerleaders get carried away, over and over again. If NOT fails, it likely won't be for reasons discussed here (although it's difficult to believe that everything hasn't been discussed here). What does in most companies' SP is something that was not really anticipated.
I'm hoping for a home run here, but all that great DD that people talk about, some of which has left the board based on frustration with the other categories of poster, well, I find it somewhat repetitive and also find it to be part of the reason that so many have a false notion of what the chances really are that NOT makes it big. It's not an easy thing to be as successful as one might be led to believe.
