let's say that I am Canadian Tire and you are Giant Tiger, I call you on a Friday afternoon and say

" hello G.T, this C.T. , is there a chance we can have a meeting this afternoon and discuss the wigets we sell ???"I know you make black wigets and I make white wigets maybe we can Join together and corner the market??"

Your reply is "sorry C.T. but it is Friday afternoon an as you know Bay street is almost empty and most of my BOD have gone to their chalets in the Muskokas or Peterborough so it can't be this weekend."

I turn to my BOD and say "well you can't say Ididn't try,...get the bean counters to work over the weekend and figure out how much it will cost us to take G.T. over"

"We'll tell the shareholders on Monday" then we'll make an offer to take G.T. over.

Don't kid ourselves this was well planned out in advance by our board and maybe this is why we see the negative response today
