With all due respect, I would like to post this as a followup. My last post painted a "potential" scenario.......I have no way of knowing if the events or even players will eventually pan out.......I merely offer this up for discussion. When I examined this scenario, I discovered "linkages" which I suspected were more than just coincidental. Lets have a look at them.

Cliffs

BOD has the following

  • Francis R. McAllister, Chm & CEO Stillwater Mining Company
  • Joseph A. Carraba, Cliffs Pres & CEO (also Director of Newmont Mining Corp)
  • Ronald C. Cambre, former Chm of Board of Newmont Mining Corp
  • Janice K. Henry, former Director of INCO Ltd

Good experience outside Fe ore and coal.

Stillwater Mining Corporation

  • Major shareholder (53.1%) Norilsk Nickel
  • sole primary mined source of PGEs in the US

Norilsk Nickel

  • 50:50 JV with African Rainbow Minerals at the Nkomati Mine in SA
  • major producer of Ni, Cu and PGEs

Now what gets really interesting is that at the Nkomati Mine, there are both PGE-rich Ni/Cu mineralization (some massive) and chromite-rich horizons......sound familiar? The parental magma source is assumed to be a phase of the Bushveld Complex.

Coincidental???

Respectfully submitted
