The FWR Black Thor news release mentions hundreds of thousands of ounces of platinum and palladium. It sounds impressive does it not?
Forget about the word 'potential' in the release for the purposes of this post.
I often use an old annology:
The planet's oceans ( I mean the actual sea water ) have a huge content of gold, Yes gold, but no one is extracting it.
Why not?
Because despite it's huge content it is not practical because it is too thinly dispersed.
Similarly is with the PM deposit in Black Thor. The concentrations are too thin to be practical with current metal prices. For it to be economically viable those metal prices should be about double to triple present ones. Hence that part of the deposit is merely an academic or propaganda exercise for now and not a resource as such.
So why mention it?
Let me first compare to the Triple-J deposit of NOT.
About 44 holes drilled? but only four reported in the recent 'Discovery' announcement.
It appears that Noront used a one gram per ton limit for the mention of the resource.
Most of the remaining 40 or so holes in 3-J had similar concentrations of PM to FWR's release but Noront chose not to make an issue of them because the concentrations were border line or below the one gram limit.
Had Noront used the same approach to their drill holes they probably would have harped about all 44 holes.
So getting back, FWR advertizes half gram per ton PMs while NOT does not consider anything below a gram as PR worthy material.
So why the difference and now?
Why present this concept to the shareholders?
I leave that to you the readers of this forum to answer that for yourself, I have said enough. Ed.
