"A hostile takeover bid is simply one where a bid is made without the agreement of the company being targeted."

That sounds reasonable, but it's not the connotation being used in a myriad of posts complaining and warning of this tactic. It's being made to sound like a nefarious undertaking rather than the routine ploy that it is. "Much ado about nothing", methinks.
