There has been some talk recently about CN Rail ripping up the track on the Kinghorn Line which ran from long Lac to Thunder Bay. Apprarenly this has made it less likely that RoF chromite could be shipped to Thunder Bay for smelting.

At one time there was a spur line that ran from Hillsport (east of Long Lac) to Manitouwadge. At Manitouwadge CP Rail had a spur line coming from the south.

The rail lines used to service Norana Mines (Geco) in Manitouwadge and I do know that Geco ran out of ore years ago.

Anyway if those rail lines (both CN and CP) were still there they could provide an alternate route to Thunder Bay through Manitouwadge.

Does anyone know if these two spur lines still exist?
