Vermillion, what happy Chirstmas memories!
It reminded me of my first Christmas dinner when I was having all the family to my place. I had done everything possible the evening before. The table was beautifully set, and lovely trimmings everywhere. All that remained was for me to get up at 6:30 a.m. and put the Bird in the oven.
Well, I got up at 6:30a.am. and went to put the turkey in the oven, only to realize I had forgotten to take it out of the freezer to thaw it in the sink overnight! Sheer white panic set in.
I flew out of my apt. to search for any deli that might be open. It was a freezing cold, drizzly morning. One hour and a half later, after about 2 miles of crisscrossing streets, I spied an open deli. There on the top of the counter was a huge cooked turkey ready for slicing for sandwiches. I convinced the owner that he just had to let me have most of it! He took pity on me, saw that I was frantic ,and kindly packed up 10 outgoing turkey dinner orders, stuffing included.
I hailed a taxi and arrived home, thanking my angels all the way! Didn't tell anyone my saga until after the dinner was all over! It was a great success. :)
Merry Christmas everyone, and many blessing in the coming New Year.
