Native Blockade?

posted on Jan 16, 10 11:31AM

Has anybody heard anything about a native blockade next week against the ROF

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Yes I did Axeman. Sorry you took a pounding for this information. I posted this on the FWR forum a week ago and received one response so just figured nobody cares. Below is a copy of the article. I have since found that it may not be as big a deal as if seems. At least we hope this does not develop into something. We are all aware that virtually every play in the ROF has a rep for our First Nations and keep them well informed and included.

PRESS RELEASE

As of January 18, 2010, Marten Falls First Nation and Webequie First Nation along with the support of Long Lake #58, Ginoogaming First Nation, Eabemetoong First Nation and Aroland First Nation are closing Logistics Companies operating Camps and Ice Landing Strips for juniors in the Ring of Fire area due to the following reasons:

1.Airport Construction with Camp Development project

2.Contracts and Business opportunities and interests

3.Lack of meaningful consultation and accommodations

4.Environmental monitoring accountability process

5.Employment and Training access.

6.Winter Road/Trail
