somtimes we put too much into what is being said;

all exploration geologists like to promote their discoveries. If the term 2,000 meter had been said that is a different thing than saying 2 km; 2 km is a much looser term with much less accuracy. What a person thinks, hopes, plans for in the future or actually has done can easily get blurred in such conversations.
