The south African problems will continue. Their problems can not be solved over night, but it does not mean that the mining will collapse in any fashion. It means that further investment and development is hindered and goes elsewhere.
Now just where could a company like Xstrata find a profitable foothold? Hmmm.
Oh Yeah, Northern Ontario looks like a possible option. How about investing 5 million Rand there, perhaps more.
Buy out a few companies in the Ring, maybe even Cliffs itself or partner with them. Transfer your main focus for development to north America instead of south Africa. Is not north America a mining friendly environment?
