Environmentally damaging is an understatement of the highest decree. The Chinese government is forcefully implementing new environmental policies that include primarily those that affect air quality. Remember how Beijing shut down factories for weeks leading up to the summer Olympics? Well most of those were coal fired emissions.

Nickel Pig Iron is produced by coal fired electric furnaces. Unclean! Uncool!
