assuming there are no lesser prizes lowering the main one. So no matter what, you are
behind from the start.
A deposit in a checking account is way better because a lottery diminishes value and
merely redistributes remaining value from the many into one or just a few.

On the other hand, you put up a buck into something like a Noront stock, you do not
get assurance of a win but if you did your dd and are patient not only do you have
good chance of keeping your buck but there is a fair chance of a double or better.
This becomes a super term deposit because it has good potential to create value
instead of sucking it up.

Yesterday the sp rose with anticipation of news after closing ( Noront seems to
favour Wednesdays and after market times ) but with no news in place this morning, we are likely to have a sell off. Mean while the mexican stand off continues. Jmho.
