Premier Pitches Ontario To China's Largest Investors - November 1, 2010

McGuinty Promotes Ontario's Advantage In Financial Services

Premier Dalton McGuinty met today with Chinese financial services leaders and potential investors in Shanghai to promote Ontario's strengths as a global financial centre.

The roundtable meeting featured representatives from both Canadian and Chinese financial institutions including leading commercial banks. The Premier took the opportunity to promote investment in Ontario by highlighting Ontario's strengths and competitiveness in the financial sector.

Moody's Investor Service and the World Economic Forum rate Canada's financial system as the strongest in the world thanks to sound regulations and effective risk management. Most of Canada's leading banks and other financial institutions have their headquarters in Toronto, Ontario.

The Premier later met with the Vice-Mayor of Shanghai, Tang Dengjie, and also delivered remarks at the Chinese Executive Leadership Academy of Pudong. CELAP provides executive training to future government officials and chief executives of state-owned enterprises. The Premier shared his insights and talked about his government's Open Ontario Plan.

Do You all remember what was in the OPEN ONTARIO PLAN?? Read below.

Northern Resources

Supporting the North through Mining Exploration

"Your government also knows that Northern Ontarians face particular challenges — and that the global recession has had a deep impact in northern communities.

Your government will ensure the North benefits from its Open Ontario plan.

In 2008, northern Ontario became home to our first diamond mine.

Your government will build on that success — particularly in the region known as the Ring of Fire.

It is said to contain one of the largest chromite deposits in the world — a key ingredient in stainless steel.

There is no substitute for chromite. There is no North American producer of chromite.

It’s the most promising mining opportunity in Canada in a century.

Your government is fully committed to working with northerners, Aboriginal communities and mining partners to fully realize the Ring of Fire’s potential.

Together, we will create Ontario jobs and support Northern families as we continue to protect 50 per cent of the northern Boreal Forest.

As well, your government will continue to promote economic opportunity and consultation with Aboriginal communities as part of an improved and productive relationship that has been forged with Aboriginal peoples."

So Dalton met Chinese financial services leaders and potential investors in Shanghai to promote Ontario and the ROF was part of the discussions. Does that not get some people here excited.

Do you all recall the Oct. 5, 2010 words of Hon. Michael Gravelle? There’s some work going on right now that I can’t discuss at this point because we’re not yet in a position to announce it, but it is extremely positive in terms of future development in northern Ontario."

Forget the share price for 5 minutes and let this info. filter in. It is good news. Remember again that election time is Nov. 2011 and Dalton needs to get lots of support from now until then. Ontario needs jobs jobs jobs. The ring of fire is 4x the size of the Sudbury Basin. Think again of Noront's land position.

Yesterday, I was driving on the highway quite a bit and gave some good use to the Rim Blackberry I have from work. What a great tool. Eleven weeks before the first blackberry was sold in Jan. 1999 you could have had shares at 83 cents. I posted the price action for two years in Rim several times just to drive the point across. UGLY UGLY UGLY GREED. UGLY PRICE UGLY GREED. UGLY 83 cents. It was hilarious that it couldn't even be held at let's say a dollar. No. It had to have the cents ending. 83 cents. Non-cents. No cents. Lack of cents-ability. Cents-less buy...this horrible penny stock called RIM. Do you know what RIM really stood for back then? RIM (Rich in Manipulation).

I see many are throwing in the towel because of the current share price and the PP of 10 million. Come on. They'll have 10 million more bucks to explore with and quite honestly since it was kinda sold out in minutes, I suspect Dundee made darn sure it went into strong hands. I like the idea of 4.2% being in strong hands. Those strong hands use more than a day to day share price to evaluate the worth of a stock.

P.S.

I received a letter this week from the University of Guelph. My veterinarian gave a monetary donation to the Ontario Veterinary College Pet Trust in Trixie's name. I was deeply touched by the words, "We hope you derive comfort from knowing that this gift in memory of Trixie will help us move veterinary medicine forward." This letter came to me at a good time.

I made some inquiries at some dog rescue organizations and filled out some applications for future adoption. I was reminded when I received this letter that giving a dog that has lost hope a new lease on life( as I did for Trixie) would be the best way to keep Trixie's memory alive.
