Message: Who were the ringers?

I have taken careful note of the various posts today regarding the Agoracom imbroglio and find merit in the opposing points of view. That is, the site is compromised and the poster plans to flee. Or, the site is too valuable to leave and it is best to let bygones be bygones, water under the bridge. Of course, there is no right or wrong, here. It is a matter of personal inclination, the weighting that one gives to the various aspects.

One thing that has me somewhat baffled: which posts were the dummy posts? Earlier, I recall posters calling for this info to be revealed. My dilemma now, is: how can we be sure that all current posters are "legit" if the false posters have not been identified? For sure, that would not prevent new identities being used, but would it not be a sort of guarantee that existing posters not listed amongst the false names, were legitimate third parties? I think it is fair to say that someone affirming in a posting that they are the real McCoy is not conclusive evidence, no matter how sincerely phrased. And also, if false posters happen to be amongst us, naturally they are in a position to influence any debate.

Apparently such disclosure was not one of the conditions of the settlement? Would Agoracom consider doing this now? Do the forum members care? (I ask this, because if they have taken a firm stand one way or another, such disclosure may no longer be of interest).

Food for thought, anyway. I am still wrestling with this myself.
