As for the location of a possible Ontario-based refinery for the Ring of Fire, Gravelle said “there are some locations that simply make more sense than others related to the availability of infrastructure that's in place.”

Obviously Gravelle is thinking of Sudbury as one of the largest mining centers in the world little own Ontario.

Unfortunately Ontario doesn't stand a chance of landing the ferochrome smelter unless the gov't gives them a better deal on electricity rates.

If xstrata finally buys the chromite (and Cliffs) as seems logical, they already have mines and a smelter in Sudbury.

Cliffs can make all the plans they like for now but IMHO they will not be the final owners of the ROF.

In 2011 we wll see more consolidation in the ROF.
